Jo
Owner and Manager
Little Learners Nursery is delighted to introduce Jo, Little Learners esteemed manager and owner, who possesses an impressive array of qualifications and expertise. With her Level 3 qualification, Jo serves as our designated safeguarding lead, SENco, and First Aid trained professional as well as being trained in Speech Language and communication, Send Code of Practice, Understanding Children's Rights, Autism Awareness, Theories of underpinning the EYFS, and also Sensory processing difficulties. These qualifications ensure the utmost safety and well-being of all children under her care. With over 20 years of experience in the field, Jo's journey began with the achievement of her NVQ Level 2, swiftly followed by her Level 3 qualification, all while raising her own family. Her natural passion for working with children led her to excel as a room leader in a nursery setting, and later as a childminder for 11 years in Vigo Village. Now, Jo's lifelong dream has come to fruition with the establishment of Little Learners Nursery, where parents can trust that their children will receive the highest quality of care and education.
Amanda
Deputy Manager
Introducing Amanda, our deputy manager at Little Learners Nursery, whose expertise in early years education spans back to her days as a nanny and nursery nurse, before she embarked on her own journey of motherhood. With a background of volunteering to listen to children read and working at various childcare settings such as Sticky Fingers Preschool and as a childminder. Amanda brings a wealth of ideas, knowledge, and experience to create a nurturing and stimulating environment for the little learners under her care. Amanda
holds a level 3 qualification as well as training in Understanding and addressing behaviour in the early years, Theories underpinning the EYFS, the importance of self evaluation, Speech language and communication in the early years, introduction to yoga with young children and also effective safeguarding. These qualifications makes her perfect to serves as our designated safeguarding lead. Additionally, she fulfills the role of SENco and is trained in first aid, ensuring the safety and well-being of all children under her care.
Hollie
Part of our Management Team
Hollie, a dedicated member of our Management team at Little Learners Nursery, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her role as she oversees all administrative and financial aspects of our operations with precision and care. Her journey in the childcare industry began in 2020, starting as a childminding assistant for her mum, Jo Spalding, the owner of Little Learners Nursery, and has since evolved into a vital part of the team. She has trained in safeguarding and Early talk boost. With a passion for nurturing young children and a deep understanding of the importance of early childhood development, Hollie is committed to helping children achieve their milestones from infancy to their first day at school. Her love for early years education and administrative organization has propelled her to the position of administrator and finance manager, where she excels in ensuring the smooth running of the nursery as she knows how daunting it can be when choosing a nursery for your children.
Kim
Nursery Practitioner
Little Learners Nursery is proud to have Kim, a dedicated professional with 19 years of experience in child care, as part of our Nursery Practitioner team. Kim has a Level 3 qualification and training in theories underpinning the EYFS, reflecting practice in the early years, effective safeguarding, improving children's learning through play and using visual support in the early years. Because of this Kim brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to provide the best care and education for children under our care. Kim's passion for nurturing young minds is evident in her love for engaging children in various activities, particularly music and outdoor exploration. Her previous experiences at Sticky Fingers Preschool and as a mother of four children has equipped her with the skills to create a stimulating and safe environment for children to learn and grow.
Charlotte
Nursery Practitioner
Introducing Charlotte, a dedicated nursery practitioner at Little Learners Nursery, with experience as a SENco and First Aid training to ensure child safety. Not only this but she also has trained in SEND code of practice, Sensory processing difficulties, Effective safeguarding, speech language and communication and individual health care plans and risk assessments for children and young people with physical disability or complex needs. Her nurturing approach and commitment make her invaluable to the team. Charlotte's diverse skill set, including drama workshops and emotional intelligence sessions, enriches the learning experiences of the children at the nursery. Her passion for working with children began as a child entertainer and has continued throughout her career. After raising her own children, Charlotte joined Jo's childminding setting before joining Little Learners Nursery. Her journey reflects her dedication to supporting children's growth and development, making her a trusted presence for both children and families.

Nursery Practitioner
Introducing Sara, a highly qualified staff member at Little Learners Nursery with a level 2 qualification and extensive experience in child care. Sara is dedicated to ensuring the safety and holistic development of the children under her care, equipped with first aid training as well as speech and language, safeguarding and early talk boost certification. Her 15 years of experience and NVQ2 qualification showcases her commitment to excellence. Prior to her career in child care, Sara was a stay-at-home mum to her three children, discovering her passion for the sector while volunteering at their preschools. Sara's genuine love for nurturing young minds creates a safe and encouraging environment at Little Learners Nursery, where she consistently goes above and beyond to provide exceptional care and support.
Lisa
Nursery Practitioner
Lisa, one of our dedicated nursery practitioner at Little Learners Nursery, brings years of experience in childcare, having started her journey at 18 and completing her level 3 diploma in 2011. She has also trained in effective safeguarding practice, understanding and addressing behaviour in the Early Years and also speech language and communication. With three children of her own, she understands the importance of creating a nurturing and stimulating environment for early years. Lisa's passion for early childhood education shines through in her approach to learning through play, making sure that every child's little fingers and minds are kept busy with engaging activities like messy play and exploration.
Sandra
Nursery Practitioner
Introducing Sandra, our highly experienced nursery practitioner with over 20 years of dedicated service in the early years sector, having previously worked at two other prestigious nurseries before joining our team. With a Level 4 qualification obtained in 2012 from the Open University in early years practice and training in prevent duty, criminal exploitation and county lines and effective safeguarding practice, Sandra brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her role, having served as a deputy manager and designated safeguarding lead at a previous nursery, all while maintaining her first aid training for the safety and well-being of the children under her care.

Janet, a nursery practitioner at Little Learners Nursery, is a true gem in the field of child care. With an impressive tenure of nearly 26 years in Vigo Village, she has nurtured generations of children at Sticky Fingers Preschool, some of whom have now returned with their own little ones. Janet's dedication and passion for her work are evident in the way she lovingly cares for each child, fostering their learning and social skills through the power of play. While she may not hold formal qualifications she is trained in reflective practice in the early years, theories underpinning the EYFS, safeguarding, autism awareness and food allergy awareness. Her wealth of experience and genuine love for the children make her an absolute delight to be around, creating an environment where the children simply adore Janet.

Nursery Practitioner
Katie, one of our newest practitioners at Little Learners Nursery, is a passionate individual who is eager to kickstart her career in childcare after spending quality time at home with her two children. She has already taken the initiative to undergo safeguarding training, showcasing her commitment to providing a safe and nurturing environment for children under her care. With a strong desire to further her knowledge and skills in the field, Katie is enthusiastic about pursuing her Level 3 NVQ qualification once she has gained more experience and settled into her role at the nursery. Her hands-on experience in setting up toddler groups, along with her previous role as a lunchtime supervisor at Vigo Village School, has equipped her with valuable insights and practical skills that will undoubtedly benefit the children she works with.

Introducing Lennie and Lucy, the adorable Little Learners Nursery Mascots! These lovable characters bring joy to the children as they take turns bringing them home on their birthdays. Not only do Lennie and Lucy serve as cuddly companions, but they also help create lasting memories for the children and their families. At Little Learners Nursery, we value the importance of sharing experiences and creating a sense of community. That's why we encourage the children to document their time with Lennie and Lucy by uploading photos to their personal Tapestry account. This not only allows the children to reflect on their time with the mascots but also enables parents to be a part of their child's journey at the nursery.
