Special Education Needs

At Little Learners, we are truly passionate about offering a safe, inclusive and engaging environment for all children with a range of special education needs, disabilities, and additional educational needs.

Our dedicated team uses their knowledge from experience and regular training, as well as working closely with parents and other professionals to put strategies in place to support and nurture each child.

We strive to make our setting a fully inclusive environment ensuring that every child can access learning, and feel safe and understood whilst having fun the whole time!

At Little Learners we communicate and build relationships with parents and outside professionals so we can make appropriate adaptations to the nursery day and environment (both indoors and outside) so that children with sen know that they are fully part of, important to and involved entirely throughout their time at Little Learners.

We actively encourage open conversations with all of our children about each of our differences to promote respectful and positive mindsets towards all children with sen. We really find this builds an atmosphere of kindness, understanding and acceptance of everybody at our nursery.

To ensure we are able to deliver and provide for our children, we have three send specialists in the team, two leads and a send coordinator. They work closely with all members of the team as well as liaising with outside professionals such as specialist teachers and equality and inclusion advisors. We ensure that we regularly take part in courses and workshops to keep our knowledge up-to-date.

SEND is a very important part of our nursery and as well as being a professional team, some of our SEND staff also hold first hand experience in this area, which drives us to give all children the very best start and support that we can.

Understanding SEND in young children is crucial for parents to provide the necessary support and resources for their child's development. Each child with SEND requires a unique approach to education and care. Please see below to learn more and view helpful links for parents and carers of children and young people with SEND, as well as a link for further information, advice or support regrading SEND.
