Our Curriculum

The Little Learners curriculum is designed to fully align with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, ensuring children from birth to four receive a rich, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning experience. It recognises that children learn best through play, exploration, and positive relationships, and therefore provides a balance of child-led discovery and thoughtfully planned adult-led activities.

From 0–2 years, the curriculum focuses on building secure attachments, communication foundations, sensory exploration, early movement, and emotional security. Practitioners model language, support early social interactions, and create calm, responsive environments where babies and toddlers can explore safely and confidently.

From 2–4 years, the curriculum expands to deepen learning across all areas of development, with an emphasis on communication and language, personal independence, creativity, and early problem-solving. Activities are carefully planned to promote curiosity, critical thinking, and resilience, while ensuring individual needs and interests shape each day’s experiences.

Throughout all age groups, the Little Learners curriculum incorporates the three prime areas of learning at its core—Communication and Language, Physical Development, and Personal, Social and Emotional Development—while gradually introducing the four specific areas (Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World, and Expressive Arts and Design) in meaningful, play-based contexts.

Observation, assessment, and planning are continuous and responsive, allowing practitioners to adapt experiences to each child’s unique stage of development. Families are valued as partners, and cultural diversity, inclusion, and well-being remain central to the curriculum’s approach. This ensures that every child progresses at their own pace, develops a strong foundation for future learning, and leaves the early years as a confident, capable, and joyful learner.
